In response to the COVID-19 crisis, the Nordic Pure staff would like to express both our concern and dedication to our family of customers. Our business currently remains open and will continue to manufacture at the highest level of production possible, while supporting the health and safety of our employees. Though we are hard at work, please expect delays in deliveries due to the increased volume of online sales across the country.
Many customers are asking for higher MERV rated furnace air filters due to the current health crisis. While it is true that these filters trap more and smaller particles, there is no scientific evidence showing they offer increased protection against the COVID-19 virus. Additionally, it is important to understand that not every unit has the capacity to handle a MERV 13, 14 or 15 furnace air filter. Since these filters capture a substantially higher level of small particles and debris, they can restrict air flow putting pressure on the unit itself. This is especially true for older units.
If you are looking for a higher MERV rated furnace filter, as a general rule we recommend a MERV 12, but it is always best to consult with your HVAC technician as to what level of efficiency is best for your unit. Should you choose to use a MERV 13 or higher air filter it is imperative that you change it regularly. The higher level of debris captured restricts airflow sooner than a lower rated MERV filter and will lead to reduced efficiency and possibly stress your AC/furnace unit. We recommend checking and changing MERV 13, 14 and 15 air filters at least every 30 days.
We thank you for your loyalty to Nordic Pure and appreciate the opportunity to supply you with cleaner air and healthier HVAC units. Our hearts and thoughts go out to everyone during this trying time.
